Police are still tracing the origins of weapons and ammunition found in Hanover Park on Wednesday last week.
Metro Police officers responded to a tip off and found a shotgun, two hunting rifles and ammunition for a range of firearms in a drain on the premises of a primary school in the area.
At the time, the Community Policing Forum expressed concern that the guns pointed to gangs planning a festive season assault.
Spokesperson, Mogamat Kieraan told Eyewitness News there are also fears that the weapons found last week might just be the tip of the iceberg.
Kieraan claims one of the weapons has already been linked to a murder.
“… and they’re trying just to trace back the firearm. At this stage, police is keeping a block on information. What they are saying is that they are still busy with the investigation,” said Kieraan.
