The African National Congress IN Gauteng on Wednesday said it was happy with the number of voters who went to the polls in the province for the 2009 general elections.
It also slammed the Independent Electoral Commission for failing to deal with a shortage of ballot papers, saying the ruling party was worst affected by the problem.
The party thanked the youth for taking an active role in the polls.
The province’s David Makhura said it was easy to decide on the ANC’s candidate for Gauteng premier.
“The organisation in Gauteng has unanimously recommended the provincial chairperson, comrade Paul Mashatile, as Gauteng’s preferred candidate for the position of premier,” said Makhura.
