Independent Electoral Commission Chair Brigalia Bam officially handed over the list of members of parliament and members of provincial legislatures to Chief Justice Pius Langa on Wednesday at the Constitutional Court.

Langa received the list as he prepared to swear in MPs next week.

It was a short and simple ceremony hosted by Bam and Langa.

“I hereby request advocate Pansy Tlakula to hand over to you sir [Chief Justice Pius Langa] a copy of the names,” said Bam.

“I would like to thank the chairperson of the Electoral Commission,” said Langa.

The two said it was important to show the elections went well and that the process of democracy continued.
