FIFA says it will not comment on the controversy surrounding the recent SAFA elections.

Kirsten Nematandani was elected SAFA president on Saturday after the main contenders for the post - 2010 Local Organising Committee CEO Danny Jordaan and PSL boss Irvin Khoza - withdrew at the 11th hour.

The two were locked in a tense race for soccer’s top job but when concerns were raised about their eligibility to run in the elections the pair backed down.

FIFA expressed concern about the timing of the elections, fearing infighting could affect next year’s World Cup.

The sports ministry welcomed the outcome of the election.

The ministry’s Lerato Mogorosi said it was waiting for feedback from SAFA on how events transpired during the meeting.
