The father of a toddler who was kidnapped during the week believes the person responsible is part of a larger syndicate.
A two-year-old was kidnapped from a daycare facility in Evaton, south of Johannesburg, on Wednesday by a 27-year-old woman who posed as the child’s sibling.
She was arrested after being spotted with the child a day later near the Johannesburg city centre.
The woman faces a charge of kidnapping and will appear in court next week.
The child’s father Michael Mothudi says he plans to have those responsible face prosecution.
“We are aware there is a connection of neighbours and that’s how the child was taken and that will be figured out in court once we receive a date.”
