The brother of one the men involved in a R600 million international drugs bust says he is frustrated and disappointed with the backlog in the criminal justice system.

He says his brother will have to spend another month behind bars before he can apply for bail.

Three British citizens and three South Africans were arrested for their alleged involvement in one of the country’s biggest ever drugs busts.

It has been a month since the record drugs busts at London’s Heathrow Airport and on Durban’s north coast but the suspects are yet to apply for bail.

The men appeared in the Verulam Magistrates Court again on Monday.

Collin Nadesen, who is the brother of South African suspect Moganathan Nadesen, says the delays are taking a toll on his family.

“The last time we came they said it will only be postponed for a week but it was postponed for two weeks,” says Collin.

He says Nadesan’s children are not coping well.

“They are really pining for their father,” says Collin.

The case was postponed to the 17 November when all six suspects will apply for bail.
