The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) expects its investigation into Athletics South Africa’s handling of the Caster Semenya gender saga to drag on longer than expected.
The probe got underway in Johannesburg on Friday but key people have not given evidence.
Athletics South Africa President Leonard Chuene and General Manager Molatelo Malehopo are key witnesses who have given evidence so far.
SASCOC’s Legal and Arbitration Committee started interviewing some of the people involved in the debacle on Friday and continued throughout the weekend.
Semenya, her coach Michael Seme and team doctor Harold Adams were not able to attend the investigation over the weekend and will reschedule.
The committee will make a recommendation to SASCOC on how to proceed.
The findings are not expected to be released before then but are likely to be made public ahead of the IAAF’s announcement of the Semenya gender test results next month.
