The City of Cape Town announced on Tuesday only one person would face disciplinary action for miscalculating the budget for the Integrated Rapid Transit system.
The programme’s cost escalated from R1.4bn to R2.3bn.
A forensic audit by an independent company got underway in August; scrutinizing the budget for the overhaul of the city’s road infrastructure.
“What the city will now do is that the disciplinary process is sort of the second phase of the process. An external facilitator will drive the process and once that phase is complete, the city will then report back to council on it and make recommendations on actions to be taken,” said spokesperson Kylie Hatton.
