The South Gauteng High Court has heard how three former policemen from the West Rand Organised Crime Unit allegedly became involved in drugs dealing.

The three are facing charges of racketeering, drugs dealing, fraud, theft and defeating the ends of justice.

A former police informer who is testifying for the state said in one instance he was paid in drugs after a raid on an alleged Nigerian drug dealer’s house in Pretoria.

The witness told the court how the three former policemen would conduct raids on homes, keep some of the cash for themselves and share the spoils with him.

During cross-examination it was put to the witness that his statements were contradictory.

A fourth accused died in police custody earlier this year.
