Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has called off his party’s three week boycott of cabinet meetings.
The announcement was made after an emergency Southern African Development Community summit in Maputo, to discuss issues threatening the power-sharing agreement in Zimbabwe.
Before the meeting, Movement for Democratic Change officials said their party and Zanu-PF were not even close to resolving their differences but after several hours of talks, Tsvangirai emerged to say he was calling off his party’s boycott of cabinet meetings.
Tsvangirai says Zimbabwe’s three main political parties have agreed to meet again within the next 15 days to decide on how to settle their disputes.
He says all outstanding issues will now have to be settled, within a month.
It is not clear what, if any assurances, the MDC has managed to get out of the summit.
