The Jackie Selebi trial will shift focus on Monday to a forensic audit carried out on a bank account central to the state’s case.

The former police chief is fighting charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice in the South Gauteng High Court.

Three witnesses have already taken the stand to testify about envelopes stuffed with bank notes, lavish shopping sprees and cheque stubs reading ‘JS’ and ‘cash cop’.

The prosecuting team will now try and prove its case against the former police chief through a forensic audit carried out by KPMG.

The review includes a lifestyle analysis that will show whether or not the ex-national commissioner lived within his salary as a government employee.

The audit also focuses on transactions involving shelf company Spring Lights which was allegedly used to channel money from Brett Kebble and the JCI Group to Selebi.
