A three-year-old girl is fighting for her life in ICU in Sunday, after she nearly drowned in her family’s swimming pool in Sandton in northern Johannesburg.

Family members found the girl floating in the pool on Saturday afternoon but it is still unclear how she gained access to the pool and how long she had been in the water before being rescued.

ER24’s Werner Vermaak said paramedics managed to resuscitate the girl.

“Paramedics from ER24 were sent out… to Benmore Gardens. Paramedics continued CPR on the scene and through to the Morningside Medi-Clinic. She is currently in ICU,” he said.
