Gilder to testify in Selebi trial

The judge in the Jackie Selebi corruption trial on Tuesday ordered former national intelligence coordinator Barry Gilder to testify - in camera.

The South Gauteng High Court heard argument from lawyers for both the prosecution and the minister of state security.

Judge Meyer Joffe decided the prosecution could ask its proposed questions to the witness but to ensure no potential damage was done to the state, this must be done in camera.

Once the court was cleared, Advocate Marumo Moerane asked the judge for time to consult with Minister Siyabonga Cwele about a possible appeal.

This case was postponed to next week Tuesday and Gilder was warned to return to court then.
