Eyewitness News | 2009/11/29 07:39:27 AM

The City of Cape Town on Saturday approved an updated R8.5 billion transport plan for next year’s soccer World Cup.

The plan provides 32 000 parking bays within the city centre and the deployment of 200 trained personnel to coordinate the transport service.

The city will provide additional traffic personnel to assist and coordinate traffic on match days.

“It is very important when you hosting a major sport event like the FIFA World Cup for people to be able to get around. The city will provide a shuttle bus service from the airport to the CBD and the drop off service to the stadium,” said the city’s Pieter Cronje.
