A decision on whether former Health minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang would undergo another liver transplant was expected soon.
Tshabalala-Msimang was admitted to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital earlier this month after her body apparently started rejecting the liver she received over two years ago.
Doctors were now waiting for the results of tests conducted to see if her body was indeed rejecting the organ she.
It is only after those results that medical professionals can decide whether Tshabalala-Msimang will go under the knife again but a panel of specialists from the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre would need to give the green light for that process.
They will take several factors into account including her age, her medical track record and whether she underwent the necessary follow up treatments after her first transplant.
