Antiretrovirals, a good diet and a nurturing environment keeps HIV positive women and children at Nkosi’s Haven healthy.
More than 60 women and children were staying at the village built in memory of young Nkosi Johnson, who died of an Aids related illness nine years ago.
The village was modelled on the original Nkosi’s Haven facility in Berea.
Johnson had wished for a facility for HIV-positive mothers and their children in a nurturing home environment where all their medical, nutritional and educational needs were met.
“I was here in May and my mother died when I was young and my sister brought me here and I am stating to see beautiful things,” said young boy who had been living at the village for a few months.
