Some of the country’s biggest musicians were getting ready to welcome the world to South Africa on Friday night.
Grammy winning stars Soweto Gospel Choir and Angelique Kidjo together with Johnny Clegg will perform at the 2010 FIFA World Cup draw.
The artists on the bill will play their part in creating a warm reception for the high-profile visitors.
Clegg will open the show with his classic hit Scatterlings of Africa.
“It is a song which welcomes everyone from overseas as fellow Africans,” said Clegg.
Beverly Bryer, choir director for Soweto Gospel Choir, said there were a few surprises in store.
“It showcases what Africa is in terms of the visuals and also in terms of the talent,” said Bryer.
Benin-born Kidjo will round out the line-up with her critically acclaimed voice.
