The South African Students Congress said on Sunday the country’s higher education system was in tatters.
The congress started its annual congress on Sunday and will discuss issues affecting higher education.
Student leaders from all over the continent gathered at the University of KwaZulu-Natal for the event.
The congress’ Magasela Mzobe said they were concerned about the state of education in the country.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape Education Department announced Langa’s Lagunya Finishing School would be closed.
The school will be shut on the end of the month.
Last month hundreds of students from Lagunya disrupted final exams at other schools after they heard the institution may be closed permanently.
