SASCOC President Gideon Sam said his first year in office was a dramatic one.

He reported back on the sports body’s activities this year.

Sam said his year in office was unexpectedly dramatic but exciting at the same time.

Since taking over from Moss Mashishi, Sam had to deal with the Caster Semenya saga that ultimately saw the federation suspending Athletics South Africa’s entire board.

Sam said despite all the challenges, SASCOC’s preparations for next year’s Commonwealth Games and the 2012 London Olympics were on track.
