Sport and Recreation MEC Sakkie Jenner on Tuesday met with Western Cape farm workers for an unusual treat.

He distributed sports kits to farm workers from every district in the province.

The initiative formed part of the farm Worker Development Program aimed at promoting sport and recreation on farms.

Jenner said sport would be a means to drive workers away from alcohol abuse that has plagued the Western Cape farming community.

He added sport would be a catalyst that would positively influence farm workers lives.
