A new survey has revealed President Jacob Zuma is more popular than ever.

TNS Research Surveys said the results were drawn from three studies conducted among a sample of 2 000 South African adults.

According to the latest study, Zuma’s popularity is at an all time high with 58 percent of those polled agreeing with his leadership.

Zuma’s 100 day approval rating was 57 percent, dropping to 53 percent in September.

Researchers suggest the president’s increased popularity could be due to his visit to Zimbabwe, the appointment of a new chief justice and the establishment of a presidential hotline.

Zuma’s popularity is in stark contrast with that of his predecessor Thabo Mbeki who left office last year on a rating of just 34 percent.
