There have been calls for the Armscor executive to be summoned to Parliament to explain their expenses.

This followed the revelation that they have spent close to R3 million visiting international exhibitions in the last year and a half.

A written question posed by DA MP David Maynier to Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu unveiled the exorbitant spending patterns.

Sisulu said the money was spent on flights and accommodation for Armscor board and executive members over an 18 month period.

Maynier said he wants answers.

“We will ask… the acting chief executive officer of Armscor to account to Parliament and to brief us on what austerity measures are going to be put in place to stop wasteful expenditure at Armscor.”
