An internet
campaign has been launched against banking giant FNB over its scheme which
prevent white employees from qualifying for bursaries for their children.
The bank
has told employees in a newsletter those who earn less than R100 000 a
year will qualify for assistance to help with their children’s education.
However,
the offer is limited to blacks, Indians and coloured.
Trade union
Solidarity’s Dirk Hermann said this is unfair.
“If you
earn less than R100 000 a year then you are actually in need. Then you can’t
say you can’t get help because you are white. That’s not fair.”
However,
the bank could not be reached for comment.
