As
Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, local
politicians and celebraties have wished their country a Merry Christmas as they
spend time with loved ones.
Leader
of the Independent Democrats Patricia de Lille said we must remember those who
are less fortunate.
“When
we enjoy our Christmas meals and our Christmas with our families we should also
be reaching out to those less privileged people in our communities and share with
them and reach out to them.”
Olympic
gold medallist Ryk Neethling said we should go into the new year with big
dreams.
“Enjoy
the holidays, spend time with their families and be thankful… and 2010, it’s
going to be great year for everyone involved in South Africa.”
And
Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma said this is a time to reconnect with
a loved one.
“I
would just like to extend… the best wishes to all of you in the cities and South Africa
for Christmas and the new year period.”
Leader
of the Democratic Alliance and Western Cape Premier Helen Zille wished everyone
a peaceful festive season.
“I’d
like to wish every South African a blessed Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous
New Year and if you’re on the roads, take great care.”
