The Food and Allied Workers Union said it is trying to organise a sympathy strike in support of workers at the SA Breweries soft drinks division ABI.

Workers at ABI plants across the country downed tools on Tuesday.

They are demanding a 9.5% pay hike but management will not budge from its offer of 7.5%.

“We are in consultation with the beer division of SAB which is not on strike and we are working on the possibility of a sympathy strike,” said FAWU’s Katishi Masemola
