A family of five was murdered in the North West province on Christmas Day.
The two adults and three teenagers were found dead by police on Friday afternoon at their home in the Lethadong township between Brits and Rustenburg.
Details surrounding the massacre are still unclear at this stage.
It is understood a relative contacted authorities to investigate after failing to get hold of the family on Friday morning.
“On arrival the police noticed something was wrong. They gained entry into the house and found the bodies of one 45-year-old female, two 19-year-old males, a 14-year-old-male and a man in his forties,” said the police’s Wilmarie van der Merwe.
