The Food and Allied Workers’ Union’s members will not back down until drinks giant ABI agrees to their wage demands.

FAWU members went on strike in December demanding a 9.5 percent increase, while ABI has offered 8.3 percent.

The union this week intensified its mass action across the country, with employees from a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Witbank joining the demonstrations on Thursday.

FAWU said the strike was gaining international support with ABI employees from Atlanta and London pledging their solidarity.

FAWU’s Katishi Masemola said there would be more industrial action next week

“There will be a big protest march ever seen in a long time in this country by workers working for the beer division of SAB Limited as well as those workers from other Coca-Cola bottling companies,” said Masemola.
