A senior Athletics South Africa official on Friday expressed surprise at reports runner Caster Semenya would not be allowed to compete in domestic meetings.
ASA administrator Ray Mali was quoted in the media on Friday morning that she would not be allowed to run in the Yellow Pages Series until the International Athletics Federation’s gender test results were made available.
On Friday morning, an ASA official told Eyewitness News she would be allowed to run in South Africa so she could return to the international racing circuit once her medical results had cleared her.
Mali said his organisation was doing whatever it could to help Semenya get her career back on track.
