African National Congress Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said on Tuesday, there was nothing wrong with the ruling party refusing to give up its shares in a company benefitting from Eskom contracts worth nearly six billion rand.
He admitted to Eyewitness News the ANC had not sold its 25 percent share of Hitachi South Africa that it owns through investment vehicle Chancellor House.
Two years ago, ANC Treasurer Matthews Phosa promised the ANC would sell its share in Hitachi and that has not happened.
As a result the party stands to benefit from the multi-billion rand deal and Mantashe claimed there was nothing wrong with that.
He said it was wrong to claim the ANC should not be allowed to invest in certain companies, just because it is the ruling party.
