Cosatu General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi on Wednesday reiterated the trade union federation’s call for a boycott of coke products and said Coca-Cola must withdraw as a FIFA World Cup sponsor.

He addressed hundreds of ABI workers who marched on parent company SAB Miller’s offices in central Johannesburg.

They are on strike over wages and the use of labour brokers.

Vavi told protestors soccer was being hijacked by multinationals like Coca-Cola and instructed employees to forcefully remove coke adverts from all World Cup events.

ABI workers have been on strike for several weeks.
