Political cartoonist Zapiro on Tuesday said recent reports about President Jacob Zuma’s sexual behaviour have allowed him some lee-way when poking fun at the situation.
A cartoon in The Times newspaper shows Zuma with a massive shower fixed on his head, reading his apology to the nation following the lovechild scandal.
An arrow points to the president’s groin with the words, "The only ANC member still standing up for him."
Jonathan Shapiro, more commonly known as Zapiro, said he does not believe his cartoon was too risque.
“It would have been more risky to do the same cartoon a little while ago. I think there’s been a big shift in the whole country over this past week. I think he’s lost a lot of supporters, and lot of the people who were previously 100 percent behind him are now starting to criticise him very strongly,” Shapiro commented.
