Corruption in state departments and parastatals featured highly in President Jacob Zuma’s meeting with opposition parties at Tuynhuys on Tuesday afternoon.
The parties met with Zuma as apart of the president’s efforts to get input on government programmes.
Independent Democrat’s Leader Patricia de Lille said Zuma promised he was in the process of putting in place practical steps to address graft.
“The president informed us there is also concern about corruption and that he has established a ministerial task team to look at everything," said de Lille.
None of the opposition leaders raised the president’s private life during discussions.
United Democratic Movement leader Bantu Holomisa said it was the president’s own prerogative if he wanted to tackle the issue during his State of the Nation address.
“We would welcome if he does, but if he feels that he has addressed it by issuing a public apology, then so be it. Life must go on.”
