Baby Zuma saga dying down overseas

While President Jacob Zuma’s sexual behaviour has dominated headlines in South Africa, the international media does not seem to be reporting that extensively on the love child scandal.

Zuma issued a statement at the weekend saying he "deeply regrets" the pain he caused his family, the ruling party and the nation by having a child out of wedlock with soccer boss Irvin Khoza’s daughter Sonono.

Opposition parties and religious organisations criticised Zuma, saying his actions undermined government’s fight against the spread off HIV and Aids.

Australian journalist Michael Hopkin said the story has not made headlines there.

“Although we did cover some of the allegations, we haven’t given this one too much airtime this week,” he said.
