African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer Mathews Phosa is demanding R1 million in damages from the Mpumalanga secretary of South African National Civic Organisation.
Phosa claims the man allegedly defamed him on radio.
Whilst speaking on a radio show on Monday night, Raymond Makamo apparently accused the province’s former premier of funding the service delivery protests in Siyathemba.
Phosa is said to be furious over the matter and has instructed his attorney to draw up a final letter of demand.
Aside from the money Phosa wants, which he said he would give to charity, he is also demanding a public apology from Makamo.
Phosa labelled the allegations unlawful, insulting and damaging.
