The Airports Company South Africa says Cape Town International has been buzzing with cyclists, both local and international, this week ahead of Sunday’s Cape Argus/Pick ’n Pay Cycle Tour.
Around 35 000 cyclists are expected to take part in the race around the Peninsula.
Seven-times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong headlines this year’s event.
ACSA’s Deidre Hendricks says they have been kept on their toes.
“To date we’ve seen a large number of bicycles being processed at the airport, with the bulk of them arriving today. We usually see around 10 000 bikes pass through the airport.”
