An urgent top-level meeting is expected to take place soon to stop a repeat of this week’s incident in which the president’s bodyguards manhandled an Eyewitness News photographer.

Tshepo Lesole
was overpowered by President Jacob Zuma’s VIP guards on Tuesday and forced to photographs he took.

On Wednesday, a Mail & Guardian photographer and intern were apparently detained by police for taking photos of the president’s Forrest Town home.

National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele is due back in the country soon and once he arrives the meeting is expected to take place on an urgent basis.

Meanwhile, the Presidency said it was also investigating.

Opposition parties condemned the incident, with Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille calling for Zuma to take responsibility for his guards.
