Access was restricted to the Protea Magistrates Court for a second day as hip hop artist Jub Jub and Themba Tshabalala returned to court for their bail hearing on Thursday.

The two are accused of killing four schoolboys when they lost control of their cars while allegedly street racing in Soweto last week.

It was evident police were better prepared for the large crowd which was expected to descend on the court building.

Johannesburg metro police were on alert and SAPS officers were spread out to cover more ground.

The front portion of the court’s parking lot was cleared, in case demonstrators started stoning cars.

The added room gave officers more space to move around and act quickly in case of an emergency.

Meanwhile, inside the building people were queuing at court room six hoping for a seat in the public gallery.

There were problems on Wednesday when those close to the case were barred from entering.
