Residents in the Little Karoo town of Oudtshoorn are adamant they will not allow an adult shop near a local school.

Community members were planning a march to an Adult World outlet in the town on Friday to try and force it to close down.

They claim the shop is located too close to Van Reede Primary School and it will be a bad influence on the children.

Resident Carmin Harty told Eyewitness News they would do everything in their power to ensure the shop is closed.

“The object of the march is to request government to implement legislation that will prevent shops of this nature from opening within a radius of five kilometres from any educational institution.”

Adult World, meanwhile, has indicated it has no intention of bowing to pressure to shut down its Oudtshoorn branch.
