The City of Johannesburg on Wednesday said it was still too early to say how much power bills would go up by.
It was still drawing up its budget which will come into effect on the first of July.
Earlier this year, energy regulator Nersa approved three annual power price hikes of roughly 25 percent for Eskom but the council said the hike should be less than that this year.
The city’s Virgil James said some proposals had been put forward.
“They have not been finalised as yet. Residents, business and any interest groups have a month of consultations,” said James.
