The person at the helm of one of the country’s luxury trains has announced it will be heading in new directions to become more accessible to the local market.

The Blue Train traditionally runs between Cape Town and Pretoria twice a week.

But the train’s manager Moosa Matlhatsi said there is talk of doing shorter routes to make journeys more affordable to citizens.

“We do have special packages for everyone and it’s a very affordable one. But we also have other different routes.”

Matlhatsi added international visitors are still the biggest fans of travelling by rail.

She said from Africa to Europe to Asia there is a very good market.
