The City of Cape Town said on Sunday parking discs for Greenpoint residents on match days will not be ready in time for the World Cup.

Residents were meant to be placed on a data base where they would receive discs allowing them easy access to their homes during the tournament.

But the city said the discs will only be complete by September.

It says residents will be slightly inconvenienced, and measures will be implemented to assist them look for parking.

The city’s JP Smith said there is not much they can do to speed up the process.

“The rate payers association [and I] have done everything within our power to try and have these discs in place for the World Cup. But it has turned out to be logistically and legally impossible. There are processes we still have to go through to have such a system in place,” he said.
