Government department heads and public entity chief executives can expect some tough questions from members of Parliament over spending on World Cup tickets.

Parliament’s watchdog on public accounts Scopa said it will demand detailed explanations when annual reports are submitted over the next few weeks.

Scopa said it expects full disclosure when directors general of government departments and CEOs present their annual reports over the next three months.

An instruction from the Accountant General has been circulated to all relevant parties. They have been ordered to include details and explanations for spending on World Cup tickets.

"As a committee we are gravely concerned about the matter that is why we took the initiative to request the auditor general to audit,” said Scopa chair Themba Godi.

An investigation into the ticket splurge is expected to be completed by September.
