Helicopter makes emergency landing at CPT airport
Eyewitness News | 2010/07/30 06:04:37 PM

A helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing at Cape Town International Airport on Friday afternoon.

Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) said no flights were delayed as the main runway was not affected.

Acsa’s Deidre Hendricks said “It was not on the main runway, which means other aircraft can still arrive and depart, and obviously very importantly there weren’t any injuries."

Meanwhile, officials worked to remove the helicopter from the runway.

An eyewitness described what happened: “On the second flyby, it came too low, and the tail rotor hit the ground, and the whole section broke off and the helicopter came to a standstill.”
